List of number-one albums in 2010 (New Zealand)
In New Zealand, the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand (RIANZ) compiles the top 40 albums chart each Monday. Over-the-counter sales of both physical and digital formats make up the data. Certifications are awarded for the number of shipments to retailers.[2] Gold certifications are awarded after 7,500 sales, and platinum certifications after 15,000.[1]
The first chart of 2010 was issued on 4 January, with the final chart for the year to be published for 27 December.
As of 13 September 2010 (2010 -09-13)[update], twenty-three different albums have topped the chart, including eight by New Zealand artists. I Dreamed a Dream by Susan Boyle has spent seven non-consecutive weeks at number one, as has Eminem's Recovery. Holy Smoke by Gin has been the best-performing album by a New Zealand artist, reigning the chart for four weeks.
